It is a little known fact that Barlborough Hall was the home to one of Robin Hoods bows for many a year, it was bought by Sir Osbert of the Sitwell estate where it still resides, http://www.sitwell.co.uk/renishaw_art.htm
The " lingua in laetifico" Maid Marian Diaries are even less well known. They are difficult to decipher as the pages have almost reverted to the wood from whence they came. From time to time we will delve into the diaries and pick out little jewels to describe and name our fun rounds.
For example: in the Spring of 1280 Robin and Marian were flirting in the fields around Barlborough, after a glass or three of fine mead (FriarTuck's 'Bees Revenge' brand) Marian challenged Robin to hit her handkerchief at a distance of two bow rakes (120 paces) to show his undying love and to gain her favour. She pinned her 'kerchief to a tree stump. Robin chose his favourite ash arrow with the peacock fletches (the one that always flashed like a beacon as the sun reflected rainbow colours as the shaft rotated in flight), he drew his mighty bow and took aim, the string and bow creaked as the bow reached full draw, a lightning loose and the arrow pierced the centre of the cloth. Hence the name of our fun round, 'Maid Marian's Favour' where we shoot at squares of material on tree stump size targets.
