When is it too cold to shoot a longbow?

Postby archery » Sat Feb 11, 2012 8:35 pm

Well it was -5 on my way up to the Club today. I had already nipped to my work unit to switch the water off and drain the pipes....-8 on the way to Alfreton!

On the way up the M1 I was thinking, if it is colder than -3 it would be better not to shoot incase the bows snap....I dont know why I said -3.....plucked out of the air! When I arrived a Barlborough the strong winter Sun was most welcome on our backs. The temperature was -2 so we decided to shoot. So there we have it, totally unscientific but we will not use Club bows below -3. It is up to individual archers what they decide with their own bows.

Well Peter,
It seems to me that the only time we stop shooting is if our fingers fall off. I do know one thing though, BAMBOO BILLY is not making an appearance until it gets to +8.

Cheers Mick
